Opioid Settlement - $50 Billion to be Distributed to State and Local Governments

Opioid Settlement Calls for $50 Billion to be Distributed to State and Local Governments

A historic settlement has been reached with the manufacturers and distributors of opioid pharmaceuticals to be paid directly to state and local government entities in all 50 states.
This is important information for law enforcement agencies across the country to be aware of because this funding stream can be used to fund programs like tip411.

Funding tip411 with settlement money has been approved as a valid expenditure in several jurisdictions due to the nature of our service as it relates to engaging the community to help combat illegal drug use/abuse.

Tips in Atlantic City Leads to Arrest of Shooting Suspect

A recent anonymous tip submitted to the Atlantic City Police Department (277 sworn officers) from their tip411 tool resulted in the arrest of a man wanted for his involvement in a shooting.

The police department received a text through the tip411 anonymous reporting system indicating that Ayman Shiham had entered a residence and patrol officers were dispatched and immediately set up a perimeter around the building. Officers made contact with Shiham who subsequently surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.

Freeport Police Department launches anonymous tip mobile app, developed by tip411

The Freeport Police Department (48 sworn officers) is adding to its crime-fighting arsenal with a new mobile app, developed by tip411, to help residents connect with the department to find information, view alerts, and submit anonymous tips.

“An illegally parked car, it could be a problem house in a neighborhood, it could be, you know, maybe something happened on the streets,” said Freeport Police Chief Matthew Summers. “Somebody doesn’t want to come forward and say something, they could send a tip to an officer.”

Tips submitted are 100% anonymous, as the technology removes all identifying information before police see the tips.

“This will give an avenue where there’s no way the police department will ever know who’s sending a tip in,” Summers said.

“Everyone plays an important part in helping to make our city safe, beautiful, and a great place to live, work, and play, and that’s why I believe our new Freeport PD app will be an important tool in that work.”
