Borger, TX PD re-introduces tip411 Public Safety Alert System

The Borger Police Department recently re-introduced the tip411 alert system from CitizenObserver, an interactive way to keep the community connected and informed through email, text message, and online public safety alerts. Tip411 also allows the public to report crimes and other suspicious activities directly to police by sending anonymous text messages from their cell phone.

“We believe an informed community is a safer community,” said Chief Bruce Roberts. “The tip411 system has allows our department to engage with the public and share information that will help make Borger a safer place.”

Cowlitz County WA Sheriff’s Office launches tip411 iPhone and Android app for crime tips

The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office has a new tip line phone app that works with Android and Apple smartphones. The program is called “tip411.”

In a statement, Sheriff Mark Nelson said, “Citizens today are far more likely to text or email a tip than they are to make a phone call. … This is technology that helps connect the sheriff’s office with our citizens in a different way, and will enable us to get timely, anonymous information on crimes in Cowlitz County.”

Nelson said public involvement is the best crime-fighting resource in Cowlitz County. He said he hopes callers will use the app to report suspicious activity, drug complaints, domestic violence or any other crime they see.

Community Tips Help Newton, KS PD Crack Down on Crime

“The people are in the virtual world, the social media and so we have to go and meet them there,” Newton Police Department Sgt. Bryan Hall said.

They call it proactive policing. They launched an app called Tip 411 and revamped its Facebook about a year ago to get people to leave more tips. It’s working, tips are pouring in.

“I handle the social media so i get those calls in the middle of the night or those messages so I have a lot of interaction,” Hall said.

They say numerous cases often start with community tips. “It points us in a direction where to start watching, where to start building our investigation.”

DEA Houston – New Program Allows Anonymous Tips via Text

The Drug Enforcement Administration has a new way for people in the Rio Grande Valley to submit anonymous tips about suspected drug activity.

The program launched about a month ago and is called TIP411.

Anyone with a cell phone can text the number 847411 (TIP411). Start the text by typing RGV then the desired message. The entire message goes directly to a local DEA agent. The agent can then message back and forth in real time. Pictures and video can also be sent.
