New app allows Scottsboro community to tip police confidentially

Scottsboro Police is launching a new avenue to help fight crime and the residents have a big hand in the process.

The department is introducing an app that provides a direct and fast link from the community to officers. “It allows the community residents to send us tips confidentially,” Scottsboro Police Chief Ralph Dawe says.

The tip411 application allows residents to engage with the police department from the palm of their hand via their smart phone or from a computer.

Green Twp. Police Department in Ohio Launch tip411

Township residents are now able to receive public safety alerts from police and submit tips to police about criminal activity, all on their cellphones.

The Green Township Police Department launched the tip411 alert system from Citizen Observer. The program is an interactive way to keep the community connected and informed through email, text message and online safety alerts.

Through tip411, the public can also report crimes and suspicious activity directly to police by sending anonymous text messages from their cellphones.

“We believe an informed community is a safer community,” Green Township Police Chief Bart West said. “The new tip411 system allows our department to engage with the public and share information that will help make Green Township a safer place.”

Tips from LA DWF tip411 program help Operation Game Thief program

Louisiana Operation Game Thief, Inc., a Louisiana wildlife crime-stoppers program, awarded $9,500 to diligent citizens statewide at its recent quarterly meeting in Woodworth.

The LOGT board reviewed a total of 21 cases that included public tips from 23 informants. A total of 31 subjects were apprehended and 236 offenses were written in conjunction with the reviewed cases. The LOGT has paid out a total of $368,400 since inception in 1984.

The incidents included 13 deer cases, four turkey cases, and the illegal cutting of trees on the Spring Bayou Wildlife Management Area among a few others.
