Stamford Police Department Turns to tip411 for Help in Solving Suspicious Death

Authorities are investigating the death of a 20-year-old man who was found in a Stamford pathway and are asking for the public’s help through tip411. 

Capt. Tom Scanlon of the Stamford Police (300 sworn officers) said they received a report of a man lying on his back in the area. After finding the body, they were able to identify the individual and are notifying next of kin.

“At this time, the Department considers this death as suspicious and is awaiting further findings by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner,” Scanlon said.

Citizens can submit an anonymous text tip to the Stamford Police Department via their cell phone by texting the keyword “STAMFORDPD” and their message/tip to 847411.

Alaska State Troopers Locate Violent Felony Suspect Through tip411 Tip

Alaska State TroopersAlaska State Troopers ( 350 sworn officers) recently sent an alert to their community via the tip411 platform. They requested help locating a violent felony suspect, 38-year-old Wasilla resident Dustin Peters, and warned that he was armed and dangerous.

The suspect had an active warrant for his arrest and was a suspect in an additional violent crime that recently occurred in Wasilla. 

The Alaska State Troopers mobile app is available to download for free from the Google Play Store and the iTunes App Store. Citizens can also submit an anonymous text tip via their cell phone by texting the keyword “AKTIPS” and their message/tip to 847411.

Anonymous tips from tip411 tool help Alaska State Troopers arrest homicide suspect

The Alaska State Troopers (350 sworn) recently reported that tips submitted from their AKtips mobile app, powered by tip411, led to an arrest of a homicide suspect involved in a hit and run incident.

The suspect was arrested for Criminally Negligent Homicide, Failure to Render Aide, and two counts of Tampering with Evidence. The suspect was developed with the assistance of the Technical Crimes Unit in Anchorage, as well as a tip submitted to the Alaska State Troopers.

According to a news release, “AST would like to thank those that submitted tips to AST and through the AKTips app, as it has been crucial to this investigation.”

In August 2023, the AST published an alert via tip411 to the public, asking for information about a hit and run that killed an adult male near Delta Junction. Citizens were asked if they had information but would like to remain anonymous, to submit tips with the AKTips smartphone app.

Greenfield Police Department Launch tip411 Anonymous Tip Tool

The Greenfield, IN Police Department (44 sworn officers) is increasing its crime-fighting arsenal with a new mobile app, powered by tip411, to help residents connect with the department to find information, view alerts, and submit anonymous tips from their smartphone.

Officers can respond back to tipsters to create an anonymous two-way conversation.

Deputy Chief Charles McMichael says he’s encountered many citizens who are skeptical about giving a tip that could lead to an arrest, but this app cuts right through it.

“This system allows us to get that tip information whether it be an active case that we’re working or something that we don’t even know about yet, they can send us that information for us to start looking into. The great thing about this program is it’s completely anonymous. The software, when somebody submits a tip, it removes their name, their phone number, email address. It removes everything so we don’t see it,” McMichael said.

McMichael says sometimes people are afraid to speak up when they are witness to a crime because they fear what may happen to them if they do. He hopes the app will help remove the public’s fear of retribution.

tip411 Tip Leads to Arrest of Two Men on Gun Charges in Wilmington

Wilmington, NC Police Department (228 sworn officers) charged two adults with gun charges thanks to a citizen who utilized their tip411 anonymous tip application. They provided information on two men walking around in broad daylight while wearing ski masks.

Wilmington PD followed up on the lead, which led to stopping and searching 19-year-old Sencere Ortiz and 21-year-old Dorian McNeil.

The police officers also searched the surrounding area and found two handguns and drug paraphernalia, which led to charges on the two individuals. 

wilmington pd arrestOrtiz was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a schedule VI controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He received a $5,000 secured bond.

McNeil was charged with felony carrying a concealed weapon and received a $10,000 secured bond.
