tip411 Helps Uxbridge, MA Police Arrest Suspect Producing Ghost Guns

The Uxbridge Police Department (22 sworn officers) in Massachusetts recently shared how tip411 helped them take action against illegal ghost gun production in their community.

“Our agency recently engaged in a conversation, through tip411, with a tipster about someone producing ghost guns without serial numbers. Because of tip411’s 2-way anonymous communication capabilities we were able to develop more detailed information about the ghost guns to the point we were able to make an arrest,” said Chief Marc Montminy.

Ghost guns, which are untraceable firearms without serial numbers, have become a growing concern for law enforcement nationwide. With tip411, agencies like Uxbridge Police can receive tips directly from residents by text message, through the web, or via their department’s custom-branded iPhone and Android apps.

The system’s unique two-way anonymous communication makes it possible for officers to build trust with tipsters, ask follow-up questions, and gather the critical details needed to move cases forward. In Uxbridge, this dialogue with the community provided investigators with the information necessary to take action and ultimately make an arrest.

Uxbridge Police have been a tip411 customer for the past two years and recently renewed their subscription for another two years, citing this case and other recent successes with the system as key reasons.
This story highlights how agencies across the country are using tip411 to strengthen community partnerships, enhance investigations, and keep their residents safe.
