To proactively address crime trends, North Carolina’s Rocky Mount Police Department (147 sworn officers) has implemented and partnered up with the crime prevention tip411 tool.

tip411 is one of several new technologies that Rocky Mount PD have invested in to help lower crime, enhance community engagement, and solve cases.

“It’s important that we stay on top of technology. We’ve seen in the past that criminal networks are using technology to their benefit. So, you know, police department agencies, we have to do the same,” Sgt. Jonathan Denotter said.

Rocky Mount’s Police Chief Robert Hassell said the department’s focus on technology has already paid off, pointing to an 8-percent drop in violent crime from 2023 to 2024.

“Our city council, our manager, has invested a lot of money and resources in technology, and we’re seeing those benefits of that technology and our reduction in violent crime with a lot of hard work from our officers and cooperation,” Hassell said.

The Rocky Mount Police Department mobile app is available to download for free from the Google Play Store and the iTunes App Store. Citizens can also submit an anonymous text tip via their cell phone by texting the keyword “RMPD” and their message/tip to 847411.
